These lovebirds are so cute together and without a doubt, meant for each other. Their beautiful relationship formed after they met online, and their very first date fell on the anniversary day that Sara lost her father. So, to honor her dad, they decided to set their wedding date on December 15th to commemorate both anniversaries. What a display of love and tribute! I enjoyed talking with Sara over coffee last year and hearing about how she knew Joe was the one for her. Just months before they met, Sara made a wish on her birthday that either the Chicago Cubs would win the World Series or that she’d finally meet her husband — whichever miracle was more likely. She was always a ‘daddy’s girl’, so she prayed for a man who her dad would want her to marry. Well, the Cubs won first — but a month later on the day of her father’s passing anniversary, she and Joe had their first date. Needless to say, their wedding date is extra special. Joe and Sara were married at Sara’s church where both her brother–a priest, and her sister–a nun, helped lead the ceremony. This was definitely my first time taking family photos with both a priest and a nun!
Their wedding day was full of pretty golds, greens, and reds as it was during the holiday season. Also, Sara used her DIY skills to create bouquets that complimented her bridesmaid’s flower crowns. I can’t forget to mention that they had a unique, ‘bacon and bourbon’ themed reception. I’m so glad I braved a bacon cupcake because it was truly one of the yummiest pieces of cake and frosting I’ve had to date. The cupcakes had bacon bits in them!
