Love, Hot Cocoa & Twinkling Lights with Erica & Dylan ✨

There’s just something magical about Christmas lights, cozy evenings, and making memories with people you love! ❤️ One of my favorite things about being a photographer is capturing couples in the middle of moments that feel like them—and Erica and Dylan’s holiday photoshoot at Kannapolis Village Park in North Carolina was full of those sweet, festive moments. We spent the evening strolling beneath thousands of twinkling Christmas lights, sipping hot cocoa, laughing together, and creating the most adorable photos! Between the glowing holiday displays and the cozy atmosphere, it felt like stepping straight into a Christmas ‘Hallmark’ movie.

Honestly, give me a couple in love, sparkling lights, and a little hot cocoa, and I’m one happy photographer!

Now, let me tell you about one of my favorite spontaneous ideas from this session! 💍 Erica had the most adorable pink, sparkly Kate Spade purse, and the moment I saw it, a creative idea popped into my head. I spotted some nearby bleachers perfectly facing the beautiful Christmas lights, so we carefully placed her purse there and used it as the setting for a ring shot. The goal? Capture that gorgeous diamond just right while letting the magical lights sparkle in the background. And when I got the shot, I knew it was something special. I later blended the ring photo with the glistening Christmas trees to create a dreamy, festive image that felt straight out of a fairytale. This is one of the reasons I love photography—you never know when a little idea will turn into one of your favorite images!

The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony kicks off the season in mid-November, and the Celebration of Lights continues through the end of December. You’ll find thousands of twinkling lights, charming holiday displays, the Winterland Express train, a beautifully decorated carousel, seasonal entertainment, and sometimes even a visit from Santa! Depending on the scheduled events, you can also enjoy holiday crafts, s’mores around fire pits, local artisans, food trucks, and drinks. Admission to view the lights is free, while the train and carousel require tickets.
