Best Public Parks for Photos in Rock Hill and Charlotte

There are three ‘go-to’ spots that I like to offer families and couples when we make photos together. I keep a list of photo location suggestions. However, these few places are public. They always provide great backdrops for picture making. A public park can make a super convenient spot to meet for capturing moments.

  1. Glencairn Gardens in Rock Hill, South Carolina is the most charming little quaint public park that is often one of my favorites to visit each season. There is plenty of variety at the gardens with lots of shade options, various blooms, and trees. During Spring when the Azaleas are at peak, it’s truly a beautiful sight filled with hot pinks, reds, and lovely white buds. Autumn is another great season full of color at this park.

Tip: avoid during prom season if you can, which is typically one weekend in mid-late April. The crowds are shocking and quite insane with the number of people who flock here for photos during that time.

There is plenty of parking around the exterior of the park. A bonus is that there’s also a spacious bathroom, especially great for outfit changes.

Here’s a fun fact: I recently found out that this place is over 100 years old.

2. Jetton Park in Cornelius, North Carolina is a neat spot if you like the feel of natural woods and nature trails that lead to the tiny beach area overlooking Lake Norman. The park features over 100 acres of lakefront property with opportunities for families. It includes picnic sites, tennis courts, walking trails, and a gazebo.

Tip: I recommend going during the week, as weekends will fill with crowds! Skipping the hot Summer months for photos is a win because the excessive heat is anything but glamorous.

3. Midtown Park in Charlotte, North Carolina offers some classy city views midst nice architecture with white stone steps, balconies, a covered arch trellis path, and more. This tiny area has a great variety of background for photos during any season of the year! It’s also set in the center of some nice places to eat.

Tip: park for free at the Trader Joes garage currently next to the Best Buy store. You can then easily walk right across the street directly to the park. In my personal experience of driving through Charlotte traffic, I suggest getting on the road at least 30 minutes early. You’ll want to try to avoid traffic build up before you arrive for your photo shoot.
